Cuttlefish bone or cuttlebone refers to the internal cartilaginous shell of the cuttlefish, a relative of the squid and octopus. Cuttlefish bone is typically smooth and white, with small, wavy lines or ridges.

The main role of cuttlefish bone is calcium, it builds strong bones. Further more, it's also important to apply to birds. Cuttlefish bone is an important dietary supplement for birds- an egg-laying hen (ex, the parrots). The vet often gives you advice to cuttlefish bone for your pet, because it is a great source of necessary minerals and calcium (and, which helps birds with bone formation and blood clotting).

Today cuttlebones are widely used in the treatments of gastric and duodenal ulcer, bleeding and perforation caused by ulcer, asthma, leg ulcers, and bleeding after pulling out a tooth and nasal surgery.

Animal feed

Aquatic animals have a more sensual taste and smell than terrestrial animals. Therefore, in shrimp feed and fish feed are always an important additive. Today, cuttlebones are commonly used as calcium-rich dietary supplements for caged birds, chinchillas, hermit crabs, reptiles, shrimp, and snails. These are not intended for human consumption.
